10 Year Anniversary Trip Ideas to Celebrate Your Love
1. Quebec City & Montreal
Want to explore two major destinations during one vacation? The Canadian towns of Quebec City and Montreal make for a wonderful anniversary trip.
Both have old cobblestone streets and European-style architecture that will transport you to a different time and place. Vacations to Quebec City and Montreal are romantic and enriching, with great food, history, and natural scenery.
Some of our favorite places in Montreal are the Notre-Dame Basilica, Old Port, the Montreal Botanical Garden, and the Parc Du Mont-Royal, a scenic public park with great city views.
It’s about 3.5 hours from Montreal to Quebec and you can go by car or train. Once in Quebec, be sure to check out Montmorency Falls, which is taller than Niagara Falls. We also love spending time in Battlefields Park and Place Royale, a 17th-century cobbled square.
Looking for a hotel? The Fairmont Le Château Frontenac offers an unforgettable stay in the heart of Old Quebec.
2. Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik, Croatia, has something for everyone. Amazing coastal views, historical architecture, and dreamy promenades. This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway.
Highlights of your vacation will be a scenic hike around the Dubrovnik walls, a cable car ride up the mountain, and a visit to Lovrijenac Fortress (you’ll recognize it from Game of Thrones). You must also visit Lokrum Island, a nature reserve with hiking trails, swimming spots, wandering bunnies and peacocks, and a botanical garden.
For a romantic retreat, book a stay at Prijeko Palace located in the heart of Old Town. This unique bed and breakfast has a rooftop terrace with city views, and some rooms have balconies.
3. Costa Rica
From the depths of its rainforests to its glistening coastlines, Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful places to visit. If you’ve never been to this Central American country, your 10th anniversary is the best time to visit.
You will likely fly into San Jose, and we recommend planning to spend time in the city to experience its unique sights and culture. But then head out to one of its scenic regions, where you can zipline through rainforests, bask on sun-drenched beaches, and explore unique national parks.
If you dream of luxury hotels, upscale spa treatment, and fine dining, head to Peninsula Papagayo. Here, you’ll find fifteen miles of pristine beaches along with other resorts like the Andaz and Four Seasons.
For a getaway that takes you off the beaten path, head to La Fortuna and Arenal National Park, where you can stay at the super luxe Nayara Springs or the low-key Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails.
4. Sedona, Arizona
Sedona, Arizona, is one of the most romantic places in America. This desert destination is a hotspot for spiritual healing, untamed beauty, and luxurious accommodations.
Watch the sunset over the towering red rocks, stargaze from your hotel’s hot tub, and book a couple’s massage at a world-class spa.
Of course, your visit to Sedona doesn’t have to be all R&R, plan for some adventure, too. We recommend horseback riding through the desert, taking one of their scenic hot air balloon rides, or embarking on one of the local hiking trails.
A stay at L’Auberge de Sedona will allow you to enjoy the best of Sedona while staying in the lap of luxury.
5. Napa and Sonoma Valleys, California
If you’re the type of couple who loves great wine, thoughtful food, and quaint hotels, then head to Northern California. California’s famous wine country is one of the best places in the United States for an anniversary trip.
But there’s more than just wine here. Outdoor activities include ziplining, hot springs, bicycling, and canoeing. We also recommend riding the Napa Valley Wine train to see the best of this area’s countryside.
Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is one of our favorite places to stay in California’s Wine Country. It’s close to downtown, golfing, and wineries. Plus, you’ll love its onsite spa.
6. Iceland
Sure, lots of couples flock to warm, sunny locales for anniversary trips. If you’re into big adventures, breathtaking scenery, and unique experiences, Iceland is the place to go, even if it means bundling up.
Vacationing in Iceland can be incredibly romantic. Sky Lagoon geothermal spa is a must-visit, and of course you have to see the Northern Lights. Consider booking a guided tour for the best views. Go on glacier hikes, visit waterfalls, and even swim between continental plates!
If you love scenery and relaxation, stay at the Fosshotel Mývatn, a stunning property near Lake Mývatn. Here you can have easy access to lava fields, waterfalls, Mývatn Nature Baths, and Námafjall geothermal area. The property has comfortable rooms and a restaurant on-site.

Looking for a classic tropical getaway full of fantastic scenery? St. Lucia tops our list as one of the best islands in the Caribbean for couples.
You’ll love it here. There are white sand beaches, amazing natural wonders (check out the Pitons volcanic mountains), and springs where you can take a mineral bath.
There are several great all-inclusive resorts in St. Lucia. We especially love Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa for its butler suites with plunge pools and exceptional service.
8. Ireland
What about staying in an actual castle for your romantic anniversary trip? Ireland offers unique luxury accommodations that are perfect for couples. Adare Manor and Ashford Castle are some of the most intriguing and immersive places to stay in Ireland.
But a trip to the Emerald Isle is more than a castle hotel stay. You’ll want to explore Dublin, see the Cliffs of Moher, and take a day trip along the Wild Atlantic Way. History buffs will especially love a romantic vacation in Ireland.
9. San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
San Miguel de Allende is one of the best places to experience the culture and beauty of Mexico, and it’s one of our favorite 10 year anniversary trip ideas. This central Mexico city is rich with colonial history, baroque architecture, and world-class attractions.

Foodie couples will love dining in San Miguel de Allende, and you can even book a food tour to be guided through its many restaurant options.
There are many five and four star hotels in San Miguel de Allende, but Casa De Sierra Nevada might be our favorite for couples. It maintains a distinct sense of place while offering luxurious accommodations.
10. Charleston, South Carolina
There’s nothing like a little southern charm to elevate any anniversary getaway – that’s why we love Charleston.
You could spend hours strolling through its colorful historic streets and stopping at unassuming (yet totally delicious) restaurants. Charleston feels like a small town but has the accommodations and attractions of an upscale place.
A horse-drawn carriage ride is super romantic, or you can sail along the coast. There are also golf courses, historic sites, and wineries.
Zero George is a stunning boutique property in the heart of Charleston that offers all things romance. Rooms are impeccably decorated and some have access to the outdoor verandas. Don’t miss a chance to dine at Zero Restaurant + Bar, which earned Zero George a distinction as one of Condé Nast’s Top 5 Foodie Hotels in the World.
11. Banff, Canada
Banff is a scenic resort town in Alberta, Canada, with delicious dining, fun boutiques, and incredible hotels. And it’s surrounded by the rugged scenery of the Rocky Mountains!

National Park enthusiasts will also adore Banff. The resort town is within Banff National Park, so you’ll be in the heart of nature. Horseback ride through the wilderness, hike with a guide in the mountains, or ski during the winter.
12. Kauai, Hawaii
Hawaii is a bucket-list destination for most couples, but which island is best? We love Kauai because it perfectly balances the slow island pace and must-see attractions. Even if you’ve visited Hawaii before, Kauai is still one of the best anniversary trip ideas.
Sail along the Napali Coast, look out over Waimea Canyon, and go mountain tubing down sugar cane ditches.
But don’t forget to unwind, too. Spend time on its beautiful beaches (we love Hanalei Bay and Poipu Beach), book a couples massage, and enjoy a romantic dinner at Tidepools.

You’ve likely dreamed of visiting Santorini. After all, it’s featured in so many movies and magazines that it feels like everyone has been there except you. Well, now it’s your turn.
Spend your 10-year anniversary walking through its charming neighborhoods with white-washed buildings and looking down at the blue caldera. Visit a volcanic beach or bathe in a natural hot spring. Catch the sunset at Oia Castle, which has incredible views of the island and the sea.
A stay at Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection will embody the fresh, simple island lifestyle. Plus, some of their suites have private plunge pools.
But while you’re in Greece, we recommend also visiting Athens. In addition to the classic bucket-list attractions like the Parthenon, there are many romantic activities perfect for couples.
Stroll through Diomedes Botanic Garden, enjoy fine dining at Orizontes of Lycabettus, and explore the historic neighborhood of Anafiotika.
A77 Suites by Andronis and King George are top places for couples to stay in Athens.

Even if you aren’t a wine connoisseur, you will undoubtedly love the scenery here. Plus, there are many fantastic spas throughout the region (we like the one at Six Senses Douro Valley).
Douro Valley is a big place comprised of small towns and varied climates. The best way to see it all is by taking a road trip, embarking on a river cruise, or planning a rail excursion.
In Lamego, book a unique stay in a wine barrel at Quinta da Pacheca. Or, consider staying in the luxe and secluded Quinta do Vallado Hotel near the town of Peso da Régua.
