Where to Go for a Romantic Getaway in the Caribbean

1. St. Lucia

St. Lucia offers a great balance between adventure and relaxation. That’s why we think it’s one of the best Caribbean islands. Some of its highlights include tropical rainforests, glistening beaches, and easy transportation options (so you can see and do it all). Plus, it’s home to the Pitons, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These two volcanic mountains are a must-see landmark for any St. Lucia visitor.

Where to Stay in St. Lucia: Jade Mountain

Jade Mountain Resort is one of St. Lucia’s most high-end resorts, and it tops most lists of where to stay. Their private infinity pool sanctuaries go beyond your typical suite or villa by offering private plunge pools and incredible views of the Pitons.

Aruba claims to be the Caribbean’s most romantic island, and it’s easy to agree with them. With an array of all-inclusive resorts, idyllic beaches, and scenic charm, this island country has a lot going for it.

Where to Stay: Aruba Ocean Villas

Aruba Ocean Villas is nestled away in a quiet area of the island. This adults-only resort has seven overwater villas and five beach bungalows, all offering a lot of wow factor. There’s also a fabulous onsite restaurant, a great spa, and fun water sports.

Nature enthusiasts will love exploring Arikok National Park, and there are several museums where you can learn about the archeology and culture of Aruba. But most couples come to Aruba for relaxation. After all, the island’s beaches and resorts call you to slow down and unwind.

Many couples choose a Puerto Rico getaway because of its ease of travel. After all, you don’t need a passport to get here, and there are several nonstop flights from major US airports. But simplicity is just the start of your great couples vacation to Puerto Rico.

Come enjoy the rich culture, unique dining, and stunning scenery of this fun place.

You’ll love O:LV HOTEL’s sleek, modern interior and chic vibes. Their rooftop pool is super luxe, and the suites are thoughtfully designed. This four-star hotel is near Condado Lagoon and the lively action of San Juan.

What to Do in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is great for couples who enjoy taking in all the sights and sounds. That means taking full advantage of lively San Juan and heading out to see the island’s natural wonders.

  • Enjoy San Juan. Tour the forts, enjoy the ocean views, walk along the cobblestone streets, take a food tour, and then dance the night away at one of its vibrant clubs.

4. Bahamas

The Bahamas is one of the first places that come to mind when we imagine a tropical paradise. White beaches and turquoise water are just the start of this place’s beauty. Comprised of three main islands and many romantic hotel options, The Bahamas has no shortage of things to do.

Where to Stay: The Cove Paradise Island Bahamas

Atlantis Resort is one of the most famous hotels in the Bahamas, thanks to its vastness and endless fun. And while it hails as a family-friendly resort, its Cove Hotel offers luxury that couples will adore.

A stay in this all-suite tower still grants you access to their iconic Aquaventure waterpark with the massive water slides, so kids-at-heart can still have fun.

Couples Fun in Bahamas

The Bahamas has a great balance of adventure and relaxation, so find activities that allow you to enjoy both. And don’t forget to spend plenty of time taking in all its natural beauty!

  • Visit Exumas Land and Sea Park to enjoy the most pristine water and sand. This nature preserve is great for snorkeling, hiking, or taking romantic strolls along the beach.
  • Take a sunset cruise in The Bahamas to see the last light of day hit the water in the prettiest and most relaxing way.
  • Spend time in Nassau. Even if you’re not staying in the capital of the Bahamas, you should still enjoy this incredible place. There’s excellent dining, historic districts, a winery, and fun straw markets.

5. Jamaica

Jamaica’s food, culture, and natural wonders make it a great place to visit. This is especially true for couples. If you’re looking for a romantic island getaway filled with adventure and romance, consider visiting Jamaica.

Where to Stay: Sandals South Coast

Located in White House, Jamaica, the Sandals South Coast is a couples only all-inclusive resort with overwater bungalows and swim-up butler suites. Their relaxed yet polished style is perfect for couples, and you’ll love the scenery here.

What to Do

Jamaica has a lot of fun tourist attractions that could fill an entire vacation itinerary. Be sure to plan for lots of downtime, as you’ll want to relax at your hotel, lay out on the beach, or swim around the shoreline too.

  • Visit  Dunn’s River Falls to see natural waterfalls, hike, zipline, and enjoy the beach. Then, head to Green Grotto Caves to witness another natural wonder.
  • Eat and drink your way through the island. You have to check out Floyd’s Pelican Bar, built over the ocean on stilts and only accessible by boat. Also, try Stush the Bush, a farm dining experience with incredible scenery.
  • Drift down the river on a guided bamboo raft to see fantastic wildlife and flowers.

6. Turks & Caicos

Turks & Caicos seems to cater to romantic travelers wanting a luxe and simple getaway. The archipelago of coral islands shines with luxurious resorts and white-sand beaches.

Where to Stay: Amanyara

It’s worth going to Turks and Caicos just to stay at Amanyara. Their private villas are perched over ponds and pools, allowing you to retreat to your own sanctuary. It’s located next to the National Park, so it’s incredibly peaceful, with the option to head out on one-of-a-kind adventures.

What to Do for Couples in Turks & Caicos

You’ll enjoy the slower pace of a Turks & Caicos vacation. This is the place to go for relaxation and elegant surroundings.

  • Book a Couples Massage. There are many great options throughout Turks & Caicos. The Palms Spa is highly rated and set in a beautiful tropical garden.
  • Go horseback riding on the beach.
  • Watch the sunset from a yacht tour, a private dinner, or from some of the island’s beautiful beaches.

7. St. Barts

St. Barts (also known as St. Barths) is one of the Caribbean’s most upscale and exclusive islands. Traveling here is a multi-step journey (sorry, no direct flights), which means a vacation to St. Barts feels extraordinarily special. It’s the perfect location for a romantic getaway.

Where to Stay: Eden Rock

One of the toughest parts about planning a St. Barts vacation is deciding which of its many 5-star resorts to stay at. We love Rosewood Le Guanahani for its luxe ambiance, oceanside suites, and onsite amenities.

What to Do

Everything in St. Barts feels extra special, from its gourmet restaurants to its white sand beaches. Make the most of your posh surroundings while taking in its unique cultural charm.

  • A yacht excursion is one of the best (and most relaxing!) ways to take in the sights and sounds of this idyllic locale.
  • Book a spa day – maybe one that includes an outdoor bath like at the Sisley Spa.
  • Enjoy fine dining at one of the many French restaurants around the island.

8. St. John

St. John is a tiny island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and visiting here feels like a true retreat. Most of the island is a protected Natural Park, and the rest feels like a true island village. You’ll take a ferry from St. Thomas to reach St. John, but Americans won’t need a passport or a currency exchange to travel here, making your visit here a little simpler.

Where to Stay: The Westin St. John Resort Villas

St. John’s humble size and scenic simplicity are all part of its charm – but it also means there are no five-star resorts on this island. Lots of couples opt for a private vacation rental, but we also love the design and space available at The Westin St. John Resort Villas

What to Do

There’s not a ton to do on St. John USVI, which is perfect for couples who simply want to enjoy the scenery and each other’s company. You’ll still be able to enjoy great dining (complete with cocktails and reggae music), and get in a bit of shopping too.

  • Relax on the beach, and then relax on another beach the next day too. Maho Bay Beach is one of our favorites.
  • Drive along the North Shore Road and enjoy the island’s incredible sights, like palm trees and unique rock formations.
  • Visit neighboring islands like St. Thomas or the British Virgin Islands by booking a spot on a catamaran tour

9. Curacao

Curacao is a vibrant island full of culture and adventure. There’s lots to do on this Dutch Caribbean island, but you’ll also want to plan for time on the beach, simply enjoying its turquoise waters and endless sunshine.

Where to Say: Sandals Royal Curaçao

There are several five-star resorts across Curacao, including great all-inclusive packages. We’re partial toward the swim-up butler bungalows at Sandals Royal Curacao since they offer such a luxe, unique experience.

  • Go snorkeling in its glistening waters. We recommend Playa Lagun for excellent snorkeling conditions.

10. Nevis

St. Kitts and Nevis is a charming small island nation that you’ll absolutely love. While both of its two islands are wonderful, we love Nevis for its Four Seasons Resort and quaint charm.

Where to Stay: The Four Seasons Resort Nevis, West Indies

Few resorts embody a spirit of romance and luxury like the Four Seasons. Their Nevis property feels like a secluded paradise thanks to its pristine landscaping and unbeatable location. Guest rooms are simple yet luxurious, but their pool suites are totally splurge-worthy.

What to Do for Couples in Nevis

Despite its small size, there is quite a bit to do in Nevis, which will allow you and your sweetheart to enjoy unique excursions while also getting plenty of relaxation.

  • Bathe in the hot springs located in Charlestown.
  • Go horseback riding on the beach at sunset.
  • Book a couples spa treatment at the Four Seasons, even if you’re not staying there. Their nighttime experience under the stars is incredible.

11. Antigua

Antigua has 365 beaches, great shopping, and a rich history. A couples vacation here will be enriching and relaxing, with lots to do and see.

Where to Stay: Royalton Antigua

The Chairman Overwater Bungalows at Royalton Antigua is a bucket-list style stay with everything you dreamed of. A hammock stretched over the ocean, a private plunge pool, butler service, your own jacuzzi, and a glass floor are just some highlights of these incredible suites.

  • Eat seafood on the seashore at Prickly Pear Island.
  • Take a helicopter tour to get a bird’s eye view of the island.
  • Kayak through a mangrove lagoon by booking a guided tour
