Tips for Visiting Royalton Punta Cana

Top tip: Leave the resort for a few day trips and explore the many hidden gems Punta Cana has to offer. My recommendation for families is Montaña Redonda for an off-the-beaten-track adventure or Scape Park Cap Cana for a family amusement park.

13. Moon Palace, Jamaica

Moon Palace Jamaica is ideal for families of all ages. The resort offers multiple room types, including some amazing suites, as well as a variety of service package levels. But the big draw for multigenerational families will be all of the activities available on site.

For those looking for fun, the resort offers four pools spread across the resort including an adults-only pool, and a family pool with a waterslide and a nearby splash pad. The kid’s clubs are also located near the family pool area. The resort also has a Flowrider, a wave generator that lets kids and adults try surfing, or even bodyboarding.

If you’re looking for a little more relaxation, the Moon Palace Jamaica has a beautiful cove beach with plenty of lounge chairs. And, this resort has one of the best spas I’ve ever experienced. Lastly, the resort has eight different restaurants from fine dining to pizza on the pier, making it easy for families to find food that will appeal to everyone! Large families should definitely make a reservation at Momo, the resort’s hibachi grill restaurant which can seat nine at one grill table.

Jamaica and Moon Palace Tips

Top tip: My biggest tip would be to allow time to enjoy the property, but also splurge and book a private driver or tour to some of the popular things to do in Ocho Rios

We loved our time off-property including ziplining on Mystic Mountain, taking a cooking class at Yaaman Adventure Park, and of course, hiking up Dunn’s River Falls (one of the best waterfalls in Jamaica). However, I would not recommend this for young children or older adults with mobility issues as it’s slippery and a bit dangerous.

Moon Palace is located in Ocho Rios, which is about an hour and a half from the Montego Bay Sangster International Airport (MBJ). You can book a bus transfer with the Moon Palace or hire a private driver if you want to avoid the bus system.

Top tip: Check out Sugar Beach’s event listing for fun activities including sundown socials, Latin fiestas, and beach barbecues.

St. Lucia’s Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) is just shy of an hour from Sugar Beach.

Turks and Caicos

17. Beaches, Turks and Caicos

Beaches Turks and Caicos is the gold standard for family resorts, not just in the Caribbean, but anywhere in the world! Located on world-famous Grace Bay, Beaches has calm surf perfect for kids, a huge beachfront with plenty of space, and the most comprehensive kids club I have ever seen. They even offer nanny services for infants!

The kids club is over-the-top with activities including snorkeling, soccer, and visits from Sesame Street characters. It is not the kind of kids club where the kids stay in one place the whole time. It is also open late to allow parents to enjoy a nice dinner if they wish. For older kids, there is an Xbox lounge and a kids’ disco.

Amenities at Beaches Turks & Caicos

When it comes to the rooms, there is everything from a basic room with a balcony to a beachfront house with butler service. There is every level of service you can imagine.

Beaches has several pools, a splash pad, a lazy river, and waterslides. There is plenty of entertainment for older kids with snorkeling, kayaking, a surf simulator, and a swim-up kids bar. If you have forgotten anything, odds are you buy it on-site in their large souvenir shop.

The one downside to Beaches Turks and Caicos is that it is HUGE. It can take a long time to walk from one end to the other. They do offer a golf cart service, but we generally walked.

If you do want to leave the resort, there are trips to other beaches, but there are not a lot of other things to do on the island, activity-wise.

Top Tip: Try breakfast at a different restaurant each day, as their buffet-style menus are all a bit different. Also, do not be afraid to ask for something if you do not see it. They might just be able to make it for you. Lindsay of Carpe Diem Our Way Travel

To reach the hotel you can take the free hotel shuttle from Providenciales International Airport (PLS).
